Laura's Page of Poems
Breathe a sigh of relief, these are other people's poems. I would like to give props (I don't know why I just typed that word but it's funny so I'll leave it) to Sypder's Empire because I got a lot of this poetry there. So please visit this site because whatever kind of poetry you like, they've got a site for it and, also, you can post your own. (plug). Enjoy.
- "Her Final Goodbye"
She wanted me to tell you, "Goodbye" for her,
she never got to say it herself.
She laid there on the pavement dying,
and all she could think of was you.
She hadn't seen the car, heading right towards her,
only felt the impact of a car hitting another.
She looked at me through the tears,
asking me why she was dying.
I looked to you for answers, but you looked away.
She couldn't see you standing there,
your back was to her.
That night as she passed away,
I prayed to God that she would never
know who had hit her that night.
I don't think she ever knew it was you,
The one who had been drunk and hit her.
All I knew is that she loved her killer,
you.
- "You are worth It"
Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.
Do not set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
Do not let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.
Do not give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop crying. It is a fragile thread that binds us to each other.
Do not be afraid to ecounter risk. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
Do not shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find. The easiest way to recieve love, is to give love; The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly.
Do not dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope; To be without hope is to be without prupose.
Do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going. Life is not a race but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

- My Original FPU Poem(Okay, so I lied, I wrote one. But it's supposed to be stupid so that's okay :))
FPU goes out to lunch,
And has some fun, yes quite a bunch.
We can catch a Frisbee with our left had solely,
Or use the frisbee that has a holie.
There's Humphrey and Earl and Jeff and Renee
James used to play but he's lost today.
We all go out in rain or snow.
Why this is, we'll never know.
I think we've all gone a little loony,
And we'd like to play with Mr.George Clooney.
Anyone except the evil ones are welcome to play.
Just stop by on a 1 or 4 day.
You'll see us on the side of the lawn,
Being overrun by the "Ultimate's Brawn.":)
So remember if you're feeling blue,
I'D BE HAPPY IF I JOINED THE FPU!!!!!"
THE MAN IN THE GLASS
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
and the world makes you king for the day
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what the man has to say.
For it isn't your father, mother, or wife
Whose judgement upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people may think you are a straight-shooting chum
And call you a wonderful guy
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he's with you clear up to the end
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
In the man in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of life
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass.
Original author is unknown but this was recited in Dec.1999 by Bill Parcells to his team, the New York Jets, soon before he retired, citing he couldn't find it in him anymore.

Where do we go from Here?
Written by Danielle to Mike
there are some things I can't appreciate
and when they're gone I won't deliberate
without heart we'll never make it work
accusing the world but you're playing the game
scream 'till it hurts but it's always the same
wake up in a fog can't remember my name
there are those who pin their faults on me
don't give a damn about sincerity
I've said enough but when it all comes down
don't try to tell me that it makes no difference
don't place conditions on what's inside
our similarities are torn apart by pride
and it seems like everything's coming down on me
and I can't tell right from wrong fate from tragedy
I've got to find that fire that defined me once so well
there's so much talk so many empty lines
I see no reason for their selfish lies
without the anger resistance can't break these chains.
A Clown's Prayer
As I stumble through this life,
help me to create more laughter than tears,
dispense more happiness than gloom,
spread more cheer than despair.
Never let me become so indifferent
that I fail to see the wonder in the eyes of a child,
or the twinkle in the eyes of the aged.
Never let me forget that my total effort is to cheer people,
make them happy,
and to forget,
at east momentarily,
all the unhappiness in their lives.
And in my final moment,
may I hear You whisper,
"When you made my people smile,
You made me smile."

I enjoy long walks
in the rain
eating waffles
for dinner
and wearing tennis shoes
to the prom
he says
insanity becomes me
and i wear it well
but i call him the crazy one
because
he made me love him
September 11, 2001
Afterwards, I looked at the sky
so big, empty, so blue.
As though so many souls were leaving
streaming upward
they required the entire sky.
Remember.
It did not rain for days.
